A Good Day

Today’s been a pretty good day. The Sox took 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers, we start our revenge against the northsiders tomorrow, and I read this follow up story this morning. For those of you who didn’t see my last post, Griffin Cox was awaiting word on whether or not he was going to need surgery after getting hit with a foul ball during White Sox batting practice. Well, he doesn’t and everything will heal over time. Glad to hear it, Griffin!

One Looooong Weekend

After a very long, painful weekend, I’m happy to say that only 2 people threw it in my face. Can you believe that? They weren’t even the BIG Cub fans I was worried about. I’m so used to hearing about how awesome Kerry Wood is for not hurting himself or how good Zambrano is for throwing a strike, so I just figured I’d be getting an ear-full today. Not a bad day.

In happy Sox news, Jermaine Dye was just named the AL PLayer of the Week for his amazing tear against the National League. That’s some good news I wanted to hear. You know what else would be good news? For Quentin to be voted into the All-Star game, so get voting!

White Sox Complete Sweep

The White Sox completed the merciless sweep of the Pirates yesterday winning 13-8 after being down 6 runs in the second inning. Jermaine Dye hit a grand slam in the 7th to seal the deal. The Sox outscored the Pirates 35-15 in the 3 game set.

And although 8 runs will pretty much secure a win on most days, that wasn’t the case yesterday. Instead, they just set themselves up for a big disappointment. They gave themselves hope early on and then the southsiders bats abruptly brought them back to reality. With the way the Sox have been playing the past few weeks, did they really think they had a chance? This series reminded me a lot of the last series against the Twins. Total domination!

Special Delivery

I don’t know if any of you read this story about 9 year-old Griffin Cox of Glen Ellyn. He was hit in the head by a line drive during June 4 batting practice while his little league team was visiting U.S. Cellular Field. Four days after the injury, he was rushed to the hospital because he was vomiting and his head was suddenly swollen. He spent several days in intensive care with skull fractures and damage to the membrane between his brain and skull, and he might have to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Since the injury, he’s been getting special deliveries in the mail from the White Sox, like an autographed baseball from Ozzie or a signed bat from Toby Hall. Griffin’s been enjoying the newly acquired souvenirs, as any kid would. It’s a nice gesture from the team and I’m sure it’s all very much appreciated.

The family will find out whether he’ll need surgery to repair the damage on Friday. On behalf of all White Sox fans, we’re wishing you the best luck, Griffin.

UPDATE: Doctors decided to postpone their decision on whether or not Griffin should have surgery until next week.

Vote Quentin!

Whenever I hear someone talk about which White Sox players should be on the All-Star team, only one name comes to mind. Carlos Quentin.

Chicago has a gift when it comes to rallying behind it’s players for All-Star voting, so here I am urging all Sox fans to put your wicked skills to good use and do what you do best: write-in your vote for Quentin.

I’m not sure about you, but if any one of our players deserves to go, it’s him.

Happy Father’s Day!

Hello kiddies! Let me first apologize for my lack of posting over the past few weeks. I’m hoping to be posting regularly again, so stay tuned.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go a Patio Party at U.S. Comiskular Park (a clever name I heard a friend use). It was the first time I’ve been to one and I was sitting right up against the fence in right field, and even though I pretty much just saw batting practice when I was down there, it was such a cool way to see the field. I even touched the warning track dirt! To call me a geek, does me no justice.

My friends and I were also lucky enough to talk to/heckle Greg Reynolds from the Rockies. It was definitely a conversation I’ll never forget, and he might not either. Oh, and if you know him or know someone who does, he owes me an autograph. I’ll find you Reynolds!

I also would like to wish everyone a very happy Father’s Day. My dad is my best baseball buddy and I absolutely love watching and going to games with him.

Time to Switch Things Up A Bit

So I’ve been working on this blog for almost a month now, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t have the time to keep up with everything that goes on in the game. If I had the time to dedicate to it, you know I would. Instead, I want to continue my blogging experiment and I’ve decided that from here on out, I am going to write about what I know best: the White Sox. Now since it’s hard for me not to comment on other things going on in the league, I will talk about the weird/funny/stupid stuff that does not deal with the Sox, but for the most part it will be a White Sox blog.

For all my readers that will not be with me during this change, thank you for stopping by and checking it out.
